Run-flat tyres that keep you moving
Self-supporting sidewalls carry the car after a pressure loss — so a puncture means a controlled drive to safety, not a wheel change on the hard shoulder.
A run-flat tyre carries the weight of the car in its sidewalls. Reinforced, self-supporting sections keep the tyre's shape after a puncture, so a sudden deflation does not mean a sudden stop — you continue at reduced speed to somewhere safe instead of stopping on a live carriageway. The Cinturato P7 in this range is rated for up to 50 miles of running after a puncture.
Two cautions worth knowing before you commit. Most manufacturers advise against repairing a run-flat that has been driven on while deflated, because damage inside the sidewall cannot be reliably assessed — plan to replace rather than repair. And construction should stay consistent: run-flat and conventional tyres should not be mixed on the same axle, and a working tyre-pressure monitoring system is what tells you a run-flat has deflated at all.
